Privacy Policy
ScubaSetup collects an email address only when you submit one, uses Google Analytics 4 for aggregate readership data, and sets no advertising cookies of its own. Email addresses are never sold or shared, and you can request deletion at any time through the contact form.
This policy explains what ScubaSetup.com collects, who else collects something when you visit, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be legally impressive. Short version: we collect an email address only if you type one in, we use analytics to see which pages get read, and we never sell anything about you.

We do not ask for and do not want your postal address, your phone number, your date of birth, your certification details or your dive history. Nothing on this site requires an account, and there is no login to create.
How are email addresses handled?
Capture forms on this site post to Google Forms, which accumulates the addresses in a spreadsheet we control. That spreadsheet is used to send the material you asked for, such as a complete kit list with prices, and occasional related updates.
- We never sell or rent addresses, to brands, advertisers or anyone else.
- We never share your address with a manufacturer, including one whose gear you were reading about.
- Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from all sending, not just one series.
- You can ask for deletion through the contact form, and we will remove the address from the list and the underlying spreadsheet.
The contact form posts to FormSubmit, which forwards the message to our inbox. Contact messages are not added to any mailing list.
What cookies are set, and by whom?
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. This site sets none of its own beyond what analytics requires. Two third parties are involved:
- Google Analytics 4 sets cookies that let it distinguish one visit from another and one visitor from another in aggregate. It does not tell us who you are, and we have no ability to look up an individual person in it.
- Amazon and other retailers set their own cookies once you follow an outbound link to their site. That is the mechanism that attributes a purchase and pays commission. Those cookies belong to the retailer and are governed by their privacy notice, not ours. We never receive your name, address, payment details or purchase list, only aggregate commission reporting.
The site does not currently run display advertising, so no advertising network cookies are set by us. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live.
How do I opt out?
- Analytics. Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, use any tracker blocking extension, or enable your browser's Global Privacy Control setting, which this site honours as an opt-out signal.
- Retailer cookies. Block third party cookies in your browser settings, or visit the retailer directly rather than through a link here. Doing the latter means the site earns nothing from your purchase, which is entirely your right.
- Email. Use the unsubscribe link in any message, or ask through the contact form.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information a site holds about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to processing, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom hold these rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, and residents of California hold comparable rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to opt out of any sale of personal information.
We do not sell personal information under any definition of that term. To exercise any right, use the contact form and say what you want. We will respond within the period the applicable law requires, and we do not charge for a first request.
Children
This site is written for certified adult divers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child has submitted information here, tell us through the contact form.
Data retention and security
Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Contact form messages are kept in our inbox for as long as the enquiry remains relevant. Analytics data is retained under Google's standard retention settings. The site is served over HTTPS, and we do not store payment information at all because no transaction ever takes place on this site.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, for example if display advertising is added, the page will be updated and the change described here rather than made silently. The date at the top of this page reflects the last update.

Do you sell or share my email address?
No. Addresses submitted through a capture form are used to send the material you asked for and occasional related updates, and nothing else. They are not sold, rented or shared with brands or advertisers. Every message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address entirely through the contact form at any time.
What analytics does this site use?
Google Analytics 4, which records aggregate information about which pages are read, roughly where readers are, and which links are clicked. It does not tell us who you are. Do you use advertising cookies?
The site does not currently run display advertising, so no advertising network cookies are set by us. The cookies present are analytics cookies set by Google Analytics and, once you follow an outbound link, cookies set by the destination retailer. If display advertising is added in future, this page will be updated before it goes live rather than afterwards.
How do I request deletion of my data?
Use the contact form and say what you want removed. If you have submitted an email address, we can delete it from the list and the underlying spreadsheet. Analytics data is aggregated and not linked to you by name, so there is no individual record to remove there, but you can prevent future collection with a tracker blocker or the Google opt-out add-on.
How we choose: we compare published manufacturer specifications, published training agency standards, and verified owner reviews across retailers. We do not test gear in person, and every depth rating, cylinder capacity and algorithm name quoted here is the manufacturer's published figure unless we say otherwise, so confirm it on the current spec sheet before you buy. Nothing here is dive instruction, and no calculator output on this site is a dive plan. Scuba diving carries a real risk of decompression sickness, oxygen toxicity, barotrauma and drowning. Dive within the limits of your certification, verify every plan with your own computer, and buy the training before the gear that assumes it.
